Hey There
As written on the back of Beth Hyland's book "Diary of a Romance Scam: When Swiping Right Goes Wrong" - Beth Hyland is a survivor of romance fraud and a committed advocate dedicated to raising awareness about this crime. Based in Portage, Michigan, she shares her story to help others break the silence and shatter the shame that so often surrounds it.
All About Me
Beth Hyland was born in 1971 and raised in Huntington Woods, a suburb of Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Berkley High School in 1989 and went on to attend Oakland University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Development with a focus on human services.
After her divorce in 2019, Beth embraced a new chapter of independence and personal growth. In 2021, she pursued her longtime passion for acting and moved to Los Angeles for a year to explore opportunities in film and television before returning to Michigan and settling in Portage on the west side of the state.
She currently works as an administrative assistant for the City of Portage in the Finance Department. Outside of work, Beth enjoys acting, improv, dancing, and spending time with friends. She believes strongly in connection and balance, equally enjoying a social night out or a cozy evening at home binge watching a good TV show.
Beth values self-awareness, personal growth, and spirituality. She has an optimistic outlook on life and believes that every experience has something to teach us.
